Just in a week... and a few moments ago

News that i have spotted for this week, source complied from Yahoo! News:

1. Philippines: A disaster report shows a further 37 people are missing following Typhoon Ketsana.... Typhoon Parma was lurking to the east of the Philippines and on course to hit the country on Thursday or Friday.... Typhoon Ondoy is on the list as well.

2. Vietnam and Cambodia are still battling rising floodwaters after a typhoon cut a destructive path through South East Asia, killing about 300 people.

3. A series of tsunamis smashed into the Pacific island nations of American and Western Samoa killing possibly more than 100 people, some washed out to sea, destroying villages and injuring hundreds, officials said on Wednesday. - SYDNEY (Reuters)

4. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.9. An Indonesian television network reported that buildings had collapsed in the coastal city of Padang, in Southern Sumatra province - AP

i think dentists are good looking

on an early tuesday morning, instead of going for my short 5km run, i went for a dental appointment in school at 9.30am...

My last dental appointment was in last year December.... the handsome polyclinic dentist gave me a mouthful of clean teeth and bloody mouth. I suppose to see him again in June but holiday work commitments forced me to cancel it.

Surprisingly, the dental clinic in school is queue free. I booked it last week with my friend and the next week, we can have the appointment. Polyclinics made me wait for 6 months to a year.

From my last dental visit, i mention to the dentist bout my problem with my left jaw. I can't bite hard food like baguette or super crispy fried chicken. I can't yawn properly cuz when i nid to shut it, it snaps. The sound is horrible... it sounded like my knee.

so after 30mins of mouth opening, googles wearing, pain bearing session. Good looking NUS dentist gave me this.

Dental referral letter

I hope he don't cost a bomb.

To spare your agony....

in thinking of what to get for my birthday(less than a month time).... here's my practical-meaningful list:

1. A year supply of glucosamine

I've started training in June and my knee would feel sore at the end of day after 10++km runs. Old injury...forgot how i got it. Might be past untrained long runs that causes it. Now with proper built up, the problem occur lesser.

2. Running tops in any colour other than pink...

FBT also can... my size is XS...

3. More toe socks.

Toe socks can help to prevent abrasion of toes n blisters.... it hurts u noe...

4. Sweat Proof Sun block

Had a tube of free sun block, after 10mins of running, i can see the sun block melting into white colour whirlpool pattern on my arm.

5. I got no idea. No present, i oso ok de. :D

I can't help but to blog this...

I know it is very bad of me to laugh at me... but this person is really very...erm.. (don't know wat word to describe)... ok, here's the joke.

Hi XXXXXXXXX,

Last Tuesday (25 Aug) I lost my pencil case in a lecture room and wonder if anyone happened to see it or picked it up.
There is a thumbdrive (SONY MICROVAULT click) containing very important information so I hope to retrieve it along with my pencil case.

The pencil case is black with a black cat head and a turquoise cat keychain on it.

And also on 21Aug (Friday) around 6pm, I have also lost a handphone (Nokia 6500) in SDE3 3rd floor toilet (beside the lift) in the first cubicle from the door. (pic as shown)
It was in a purple striped pouch and had a brown hp strap attached to the phone.

Would like your help in forwarding to the staff and students to see if they happen to find any of the two items...
Thank you very much for your help :)

With Regards,

ZZZZZzzzz.....

School has been wonderful so far. I manage to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep. This new semester of year 4 started right after national day. I was sick on national day, running high on fever so i slept my way through while the parade is being aired on tv.

So now, i'm checking heaps of emails. Hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail and school mail. These are enough to take away 1.5hours of my precious time.

Last week, as a studio, we went down to Ubi industrial area to look at the amount and type of industrial waste that they produce. Waste like metal bits are sold back to scrap metal collectors, who export them for recycling. It is very interesting to see how these waste metals look like.

Metal pasta

The earth resources are finite especially when everyone juz buy, use and throw. How many would wonder what happen to the plastic Coke bottle when it goes to the litter bin? Or the piece of paper throw on the floor?

I do sort my waste paper and drink cans into separate plastic bags. As for plastic bottles, i do the same. Not everytime i throw away plastic bottles. I do my best not to buy bottle drinks and carry my own water bottle. If i have 1 or 2 plastic bottles like contact lens solution bottle or shampoo, i drop them in a bin at bugis. Quite a relieve to have a bin near my home. In Singapore, not everyone is environmentally responsible. The recycling bins here are in bad condition and are dirty. U will find plastic bag with chili sauce in them in the aluminium can bin. Tissue papers in the paper bin.

Wall-E's older brother?

Think about the piece of waste that you are about to throw away.
